Can someone explain because my teacher has no time to teach me this and could use help on the first three

Answer:

Hello!

To answer these, you can use prime factorization! Here is the first one:

1) 16x² and 8

Well we know the GCF will not have any "x" since only one of the numbers do. So, here is the prime factorization for each, excluding the "x", and I have also bolded the common numbers between the two:

          16                    8

        2 · 8                 2 · 4

          2 · 4                  2 · 2

             2 · 2

Finally, multiply the common numbers (only once for each common number): 2 x 2 x 2= 8 is your GCF!!!

Hope this helps! :)

The mammogram is helpful for detecting breast cancer in its early stages. However, it is an imperfect diagnostic tool. According
creativ13 [48]

Answer:

The probability that she will have breast cancer is 0.2375.

Step-by-step explanation:

P(Positive if no Cancer) = 86.6/1000 = 0.0866

P(Positive if Cancer) = 1 − 1.1/1000 = 0.9989, and

P(Cancer) = 1/38 = 0.0263

If a woman between the ages of 50 and 59 has a positive mammogram, the probability that she will have breast cancer will be calculated by using the Bayes rule.

Bayes’s theorem describes the probability of an event.

P(Cancer if Positive) = \frac{P(Cancer)P(Positive if Cancer)}{P(no Cancer)P(Positive if no Cancer) + P(Cancer)P(Positive if Cancer)}

= \frac{(0.0263)(0.9989)}{(1 - 0.0263)(0.0866) + (0.0263)(0.9989)}

= 0.2375
