The amount of money Mr Liam's wife received is $2140

<h3>How much did Mr Lim's wife receive?</h3>

The total money received by the three people can be represented with this equation : x + y + z = $3600

Where:

  • x = amount Mr Lim's wife received = $500 + 2z
  • y = amount the son received = 2z
  • z  = amount the daughter received

The above equation can be rewritten as

$500 + 2z + 2z + z = $3600

In order to determine the value of z, take the following steps:

Combine similar terms

2z + 2z + z = $3600 + $500

Add similar terms

5z = $4100

Divide both sides by 5

z = $820

Mrs Liam's wife received : ($820 x 2) + $500 = $2140

Mr Lim's wife received the sum of $3600

<h3>Calculation of total sum received.</h3>

The total amount given out by Mr Lim = $3600

The total amount received by his wife = 500 + X

(where X is the amount received by the son)

But X is = 2d

where d is the amount received by the daughter.

therefore to calculate for x and d to find the amount received by Mr Lim's wife.

3600= 500+X

X = 3600 - 500

X = 3100

But X = 2d

substitute for x

3100 = 2d

d =3100/2

d= 1550

Therefore the amount received by Mr Lim's wife is =

500 +. 3100

= $3600

Two of the most popular options on a certain type of new car are automatic transmission and built-in GPS. Suppose that 90% of al
padilas [110]

Answer:

0.95 = 95% probability that the next person to purchase this car will request at least one of automatic transmission or built-in GPS

Step-by-step explanation:

We solve this question treating these probabilities as Venn sets.

I am going to say that:

Event A: Requesting automatic transmission

Event B: Requesting built-in GPS

90% of all buyers request automatic transmission

This means that P(A) = 0.9

82% of all buyers request built-in GPS

This means that P(B) = 0.82

77% of all buyers request both automatic transmission and built-in GPS.

This means that P(A \cap B) = 0.77

What is the probability that the next person to purchase this car will request at least one of automatic transmission or built-in GPS

This is P(A \cup B), which is given by:

P(A \cup B) = P(A) + P(B) - P(A \cap B)

So

P(A \cup B) = 0.9 + 0.82 - 0.77 = 0.95

0.95 = 95% probability that the next person to purchase this car will request at least one of automatic transmission or built-in GPS

Lian is deciding which of two gyms to join. Each gym charges a monthly rate plus a one-time membership fee.
BartSMP [9]
The conclusion is that both gym charge the same, because the identity 75 = 75 means that the two equations are equivalent (the same).

<h3>Answer: Choice B</h3>

=============================================

Explanation:

If you graphed the equation 2x-5y = 14, you'll find it has a positive slope. It turns out the slope in this equation is 2/5, which is positive. A positive slope means the line goes uphill as you move from left to right. This means we can rule out choice because of this (since we want the line to slope downward).

Now let's turn to choice D. If we multiply both sides of the first inequality by -1, then we go from -2x-5y \le 14 to 2x+5y \ge -14. Note the inequality sign flips. This always happens when we multiply both sides by any negative number. The inequality 2x+5y \ge -14 implies that the shaded region will be above the boundary line, but this contradicts the drawing which shows the shaded region is below the diagonal boundary line. We can rule out choice D because of this. Choice A can be ruled out for similar reasoning.

You should find that only choice B is left. The diagonal line is 2x+5y = 14, and we shade below this boundary line, as well as shading to the right of the y axis (to indicate all values have positive x coordinates). Values on the boundary count as solution points as well.

What are the steps to answer 6x-2=-4x+2
777dan777 [17]

Answer: x=2/5  or x=0.4

<u>Simplify the equation to the form</u>

<u></u>6x-2=-4x+2<u></u>

<u></u>

<u>Move all terms containing x to the left and all other terms to the right</u>

<u></u>6x+4x=+2+2<u></u>

<u></u>

<u>Simplify left and right side of the equation</u>

<u></u>10x=+4<u></u>

<u></u>

<u>Divide both sides of the equation by 10 to get x</u>

<u></u>10x/10=4/10<u></u>

<u></u>x=2/5 or x=0.4
