Answers and Step-by-step explanations:

Question 8:

Before we are able to answer any of these questions, we have to solve the problem first.

5 x 6 = 30.

The variable n has to equal the number 30, because that was the answer to 5 x 6. Half of 30 is 15. So,

30 ÷ 15 = 2.

This question is true.

Question 9:

The variable n is equal to 30, because that was our answer to 5 x 6.

Question 10:

No, this would be false. In Question 8, we took 30 and divided it by half of itself to get 15. From there we divided 30 and 15 to get 2. If we were to subtract 30 - 15, we would get 15. Multiplying is different from subtraction because with multiplying, we are physically taking 15 and showing how many times we basically added 15 to the 15 we started with. So in this situation we were basically saying that we added 15 twice. With subtraction we do not do that, we only subtract what we have.

The lakers scored a total of 80 points in a basketball game against the bulls. the lakers make a total of 37 two-point and three
Dmitrij [34]
To answer the item, we let x be the number of 2-point baskets and y be the 3-point basket, respectively. The system of linear equations that would allow us to express the given mathematically is,

    x + y = 37
   2x + 3y = 80

To determine the values of the variables, express x of the first equation in terms of y.
    x = 37 - y

Substituting this to the second equation,

2(37 - y) + 3y = 80

The value of y from the equation is 6.

    x = 37 - 6 = 31

Answer: 31 two-point baskets

a triangle that has 13-inch side, a 14-inch side, and a 15-inch side has an area o 84 square inches? how can i find the lengths
Sonja [21]
The answer is 12.92 in, 12 in, and 11.2 in

The area (A) of the triangle is:
A = s * a / 2
s - side
a - altitude

We know:
A = 84 in²
s1 = 13 in
s2 = 14 in
s3 = 15 in
a1 = ?
a2 = ?
a3 = ?

_______
a1 = ?
A = s1 * a1 / 2
84 = 13 * a1 / 2
84 * 2 = 13 * a1
168 = 13 * a1
a1 = 168 / 13
a1 = 12.92 in

_________
a2 = ?
A = s2 * a2 / 2
84 = 14 * a2 / 2
84 * 2 = 14 * a2
168 = 14 * a2
a2 = 168 / 14
a2 = 12 in

_______
a3 = ?
A = s3 * a3 / 2
84 = 15 * a3 / 2
84 * 2 = 15 * a3
168 = 15 * a3
a3 = 168 / 15
a3 = 11.2 in
