How to write a letter to the editor about the kansas- nebraska act
Leokris [45]

Answer:

The Kansas-Nebraska Act was a law passed in the United States in 1854 that organized the territories of Kansas and Nebraska. It was proposed by the Democratic Senator Stephen Douglas, and was passed with the support of President Franklin Pierce. The law opened the Kansas and Nebraska areas to settlers and allowed railways to be built in the area. At the same time, the attitude of the new territories to slavery was left to the people of the area to decide, which overturned the previous Missouri Compromise of 1820.

The decision to leave the issue of slavery to the residents of the area was ultimately fatal. When both opponents and supporters of slavery rushed into the area just to vote for slavery, the situation became violent. Armed groups assembled by supporters and opponents of slavery terrorized the area for four months before federal troops entered the area.

Politically, the law was a huge defeat for Douglas and President Franklin Pierce, who supported him. The future president of the United States, Abraham Lincoln, who opposed slavery, managed to use the law to his advantage.

How did diversity have both positive and negative effects on Spain
labwork [276]

The Spanish culture has its roots in the influences that different peoples have left after passing through the peninsula over the centuries. In addition the history, the mountainous relief and the seas that circulate it have contributed significantly in the formation of the current culture.

Although there is a cultural heritage common to all Spaniards, the marked uniqueness of its regions has given rise to various cultural manifestations throughout its geography. These manifestations have been reflected in all fields: art, traditions, literature, languages and dialects, music, gastronomy, etc.

Starting from the premise that Spain is a state with recognized historical nations in its constitution, we can say the following

  • Geographically we see the advantage of the diversity of Spain in the green of the Basque Country and the desert Spain of Almeria or Lanzarote or even the territories it has in the African continent.
  • As a disadvantage we can say that although the language most spoken by the population is Spanish, there are also very different regional languages among them, such as Basque, Galician or Catalan.
  • As a disadvantage, we see that Spaniards have spent years, especially in the past, emphasizing what separates us, building exclusive and redundant institutions, competing with each other abroad, showing us deeply unsupportive.
  • As an advantage we can see that all Spaniards share a very positive opinion about civil liberties and democracy. Although in some autonomous communities the Spanish government system is discussed in depth, the majority usually works for the common good.
