As in the sentence above, a simile is a figure of speech which compares two different things, in order to make the description more intense or forceful. Another example could be:
"The man is as tall as a giraffe."

The climax is the part of the story where the story is the most intense, and the conflict is beginning to resolve.
If you were making a story arc, the climax would be the highest point.
Taking a position in an argument means taking a side. When taking a side in an argument, the author will most likely give you biased evidence. They will only give you reason to believe their side, without giving you any sort of evidence for the other side in the argument.
