Ralph and Robert in a "Pretend Play" pretended to fight each other using the end of a spear.

B) William Golding uses this Pretend Play to highlight the sublime desires of the boys.

C) The scene in a way reveals the future conflict and power struggle that Ralph was to experience. Unfortunately, though he sees himself as a strategist or chess player, he never really became adept at it.
