Find 2 numbers the quotient is between. Then estimate the quotient. 41/3
Dimas [21]
Let's change this question a bit:  Find two integers, one just slightly greater than 41/3 and the other just slightly smaller than 41/3.

Rounding 41 up to 42:  42/3 = 14
Rounding 41 down to 39:  39/3 = 13

The quotient lies between 13 and 14, and is closer to 14.

The area of the figure is 33.28 m².

Solution:

The given figure is splitted into three shapes.

One is rectangle, the second is semi-circle and the third one is triangle.

<u>To find the area of the figure:</u>

Area of the rectangle = length × width

                                    = 6 m × 4 m

Area of the rectangle = 24 m²

Diameter of the semicircle = 4 m

Radius of the semicircle = 2 m

Area of the semi-circle = \frac{1}{2} \pi r^2

                                      $=\frac{1}{2} \times 3.14 \times 2^2

Area of the semi-circle = 6.28 m²

Base of the triangle = 7 m – 4 m = 3 m

Height of the triangle = 2 m

Area of the triangle = \frac{1}{2} \ bh

                                 $=\frac{1}{2}\times 3\times 2

Area of the triangle = 3 m²

Area of the figure = 24 m² + 6.28 m² + 3 m²

                              = 33.28 m²

Hence the area of the figure is 33.28 m².
