The continental shelf is located near the continental crust just a few kilometers and the middle portion of the margin, continental slope and continental rise which is 2,000 – 3,000 deep near the ocean floor. In the lithosphere, between continental crust and oceanic crust the continental rise is the boundary between these two. Examples of indirect characterization of jem finch (chapters 1-31)
sergij07 [2.7K]

Answer:

Explanation:Methods of characterization become even more important when the author needs to show a character's growth. Let's take a look at Atticus' son, Jem Finch. Jem grows from a game-playing child to a mature teenager questioning and struggling with the hypocrisies of the adults around him. His actions and words show the evolution of his maturity.

At first, Jem perpetuates the rumors and superstitions surrounding the Radley household:

Jem gave a reasonable description of Boo: Boo was about six-and-a-half feet tall, judging from his tracks; he dined on raw squirrels and any cats he could catch, that's why his hands were bloodstained - if you ate an animal raw, you could never wash the blood off.

In telling Atticus that Dill has run away from home, Jem shows the ability to weigh the consequences of a secret:

Dill's eyes flickered at Jem, and Jem looked at the floor. Then he rose and broke the remaining code of our childhood. He went out of the room and down the hall. 'Atticus,' his voice was distant, 'can you come here a minute, sir?' [...] Jem was standing in a corner of the room, looking like the traitor he was. 'Dill, I had to tell him,' he said. 'You can't run three hundred miles off without your mother knowin'.

Finally, Jem shows maturity in critically thinking about the underbelly of prejudice:

If there's just one kind of folks, why can't they get along with each other? If they're all alike, why do they go out of their way to despise each other? Scout, I think I'm beginning to understand something. I think I'm beginning to understand why Boo Radley's stayed shut up in the house all this time... it's because he wants to stay inside.

2. What effect do you think "The Hook" would have on teenagers in the 1950s? Why would this story probably not have the same eff
andreyandreev [35.5K]

Answer:

The effect I think "The Hook" would have on teenagers in the 1950s would be to not make out at random "Lover's Lane/Cove" type places. Their parents would not have wanted their kids to probably get pregnant and become parents at such young ages, so I guess these "Hook" stories worked in rural areas. Asylum and jail breakouts were common in those times without the types of technology they have today. With this being said, teenagers, today would not believe in this story. Also, I would say gun laws are more lenient than before, depending on a state by state cases, so people can defend themselves more easily. Also, video and live stream technology exist so teenagers today will have an assurance that the attacker will be caught if they are attacked.

Which best describes the authors’ purpose in using a quotation from Adam Smith’s book The Theory of Moral Sentiments? to highlig
Aleksandr [31]
The correct answer should be
to lend credibility and additional support to their conclusion

Quoting famous books is usually done to support what you're saying, it's not about proving things or demonstrating it, it's rather to help make your hypothesis seem more legitimate. Highlighting your knowledge is not necessary and sounds a bit arrogant.
