Hey!

Let's see... if they walk 10 feet in 6 seconds,  then they walk about half a foot a second (0.6 to be exact.)

Multiply 0.6 by 45 and your answer should be.. 27. So, they walk 27 feet in 45 seconds.

Next, we keep multiplying 0.6 by a number over 45, but under 100, and the total amount of time it takes for a penguin to was 45 feet is... 75!

We know this because 75x0.6 is 45. and 75 is the number of seconds it takes to walk 45 feet for the penguin.

Your answer for #1 is 27

Your answer for #2 is 75

1. 45/6 = 7.5
7.5*10 = 75
So the penguin walks 75 ft in 45 seconds.

2. 45/10 = 4.5
4.5*6 = 27
The penguin takes 27 seconds to walk 45 ft.

The length of time a person takes to decide which shoes to purchase is normally distributed with a mean of 8.54 minutes and a st
Minchanka [31]

Answer:

0.0323 = 3.23%. Is unusual

Step-by-step explanation:

Using the normal distribution we can find z value with the mean and standard deviation as follows. x is the value we want to know its probability

z = (x - mean)/standard deviation

z = (5-8.54)/1.91

z = -1.85

Using z tables for normal distribution, for z = 1.85, we have an area under the curve of 0.9677. Since we want to know the probability for 5 minutes or less, we have to substract from

p = 1- 0.9677

p = 0.0323

An event with a probability less than 5% is considered unusual.

Select the correct answer from each drop-down menu. A system of equations and its solution are given system A x-y=7 -3x+9y=-39 s
galina1969 [7]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

x-y=7

-3x+9y=-39

Divide the second equation by 3

-x +3y = -13

Add this to the first equation

x-y=7

-x +3y = -13

----------------------

0x +2y = -6

Divide by 2

2y/2 = -6/2

y = -3

Now find x

x-y = 7

x -(-3) = 7

x+3 = 7

Subtract 3 from each side

x = 4

(4,-3)

Or by substitution

x-y=7

solve for x

x = 7+y

-3x+9y=-39

Substitute y+7 in for x

-3(7+y) +9y = -39

Distribute

-21 -3y +9y = -39

Combine like terms

-21 +6y = -39

Add 21 to each side

6y = -18

Irina18 [472]

Answer:

Question 1: P ( B | Y ) = \frac{ P ( B and Y)}{ P (Y)} = \frac{ \frac{2}{16}}{ \frac{4}{16}} = \frac{1}{2}

Question 2:

A. P ( Y | B ) = \frac{ P(Y and B) }{ P(B) } = \frac{ \frac{2}{16} }{ \frac{6}{16} } = \frac{1}{3}

B. P( Z | B ) = \frac{ P ( Z and B)}{ P (B)}= \frac{ \frac{1}{16} }{ \frac{6}{16} } = \frac{1}{6}

C. P((Y or Z)|B) = \frac{ P ((Y or Z) and B)}{P(B)}= \frac{ \frac{3}{16}}{ \frac{6}{16}}= \frac{1}{2}

Step-by-step explanation:

Conditional probability is defined by

P(A|B)= \frac{P(A and B)}{P(B)}

with P(A and B) beeing the probability of both events occurring simultaneously.

Question 1:

B: Baseball League Championships won, beeing

P ( B ) = \frac{ 6 }{16}

Y: Championships won by the 10 - 12 years old, beeing

P ( Y)= \frac{ 4 }{ 16 }

then

P( B and Y)= \frac{ 2 }{ 16 }[/tex]

By definition,

P ( B | Y ) = \frac{ P ( B and Y)}{ P (Y)} = \frac{ \frac{2}{16} }{ \frac{4}{16} }  = \frac{1}{2}

Question 2.A:

Y: Championships won by the 10 - 12 years old, beeing

P ( Y)= \frac{ 4 }{ 16 }

B: Baseball League Championships won, beeing

P ( B ) = \frac{ 6 }{16}

then

P( B and Y)= \frac{ 2 }{ 16 }[/tex]

By definition,

P ( Y | B ) = \frac{ P(Y and B) }{ P(B) } = \frac{ \frac{2}{16} }{ \frac{6}{16} } = \frac{1}{3}

Question 2.B:

Z: Championships won by the 13 - 15 years old, beeing

P ( Z)= \frac{ 1 }{ 16 }

B: Baseball League Championships won, beeing

P ( B ) = \frac{ 6 }{16}

then

P( Z and B)= \frac{ 1 }{ 16 }[/tex]

By definition,

P( Z | B ) = \frac{ P ( Z and B)}{ P (B)}= \frac{ \frac{1}{16} }{ \frac{6}{16} } = \frac{1}{6}

Question 3.B

Y: Championships won by the 10 - 12 years old, beeing

P ( Y)= \frac{ 4 }{ 16 }

Z: Championships won by the 13 - 15 years old, beeing

P ( Z)= \frac{ 1 }{ 16 }

then

P (Y or Z) = P(Y) + P(Z) = \frac{6}{16}

B: Baseball League Championships won, beeing

P ( B ) = \frac{ 6 }{16}

so

P((YorZ) and B)= \frac{3}{16}

By definition,

P((Y or Z)|B) = \frac{ P ((Y or Z) and B)}{P(B)}= \frac{ \frac{3}{16}}{ \frac{6}{16}}= \frac{1}{2}
