The First Peloponnesian War (460–445 BC) was fought between Sparta, the Peloponnesian League's leaders, and Sparta's other allies, most notably Thebes, and the Delian League, commanded by Athens with Argos' assistance. The Second Sacred War was one of many battles and minor wars that occurred during this war.
