How did the closing of the woodward department store affect the downtown eastside

The downtown eastside was known for a neighborhood with average lower income compared to other Areas in the city.

Woodward department store was known for its low price. So , many people in downtown Eastside actually purchase their daily products from Woodward.

Woodward eventually closed down because it can no longer sustain its operation and still maintaining the low price. This made the situation become more difficult for the Downton Eastside residence since they have no other alternative to purchase cheap products.
