Part a: No, the outcomes do not seem to be equally likely. There is more of a chance that it will land open end up or open end down then on its side.

part b: The probability for it ending open end up is 50/100. Same with open end down. For on its side, there is 25/100 probability.

part c: In 1000 tosses, I predict the cup will land 250 times on its side.

part d:If we tape a quarter to the bottom of the cup, it will most likely land up end up. This is because the quarter is weighting down the cup, causing it to land upwards.

Mr. Tanaka is 35 years old, and his son is 5.  In how many years will Mr. Tanaka be exactly three times as old as his son?( show
Kisachek [45]

Answer:

10 years.

Step-by-step explanation:

Present age of Mr. Tanaka = 35 years

Present age of his son = 5 years

Now let the number of years be x. As after x years both of their age will increased by x years, therefore

After x years age of Mr. Tanaka = 35 + x

After x years age of his son = 5 + x

According to question,

Mr.Tanaka's age after x years = 3 (His son's age after x years)

35 + x = 3 (5 + x)

Further solving,

35 + x = 15 + 3x

3x - x = 35 - 15

2x = 20

x = 10

Therefore after 10 years Mr. Tanaka's age will be exactly three times as old as his son. As after 10 years Mr. tanaka's age will be 45 and his son's age will be 15.

Lana71 [14]
3x - 43 = 8
Shift the - 43 to the other side and change it to +
3x = 8 + 43
3x = 51
Isolate x by shifting 3 to the other side, dividing 51 by 3.
