Which equation can be used to calculate the surface area of the triangular prism net show below? The net of a rectangular prism.

The rectangular sides are 10 centimeters by 13 centimeters, 10 centimeters by 12 centimeters, and 10 centimeters by 5 centimeters. The triangular sides have a base of 5 centimeters and height of 12 centimeters. [Not drawn to scale] Surface Area = (one-half) (5) (12) (5) (10) (12) (10) (13) (10) Surface Area = (one-half) (5) (13) (one-half) (5) (13) (13) (10) (12) (10) Surface Area = (2) (5) (13) (5) (10) (13) (10) (12) (10) Surface Area = (one-half) (5) (12) (one-half) (5) (12) (5) (10) (12) (10) (13) (10).

The  13\times10+12\times10+5\times10+\rm \frac{1}{2} \times 5 \times12+\rm \frac{1}{2} \times 5 \times12  equation can be used to calculate the surface area of the triangular prism.

It is given that the triangular prism net showing in the figure with dimensions.

It is required to find which equation can be used to find the surface area of the triangular prism net.

<h3>What is surface area?</h3>

It is defined as the area of 3-dimensional geometry surfaces area sum which is occupying the outer area of the object.

We know the area of a rectangle = length × width

Area of the top rectangle = 13×10

Area of the middle rectangle = 12×10

Area of bottom rectangle=  5×10

The formula for finding the area of a triangle:

\rm A=\frac{1}{2} \times bh

Area of right triangle = \rm \frac{1}{2} \times 5 \times12

Area of left triangle = \rm \frac{1}{2} \times 5 \times12

The surface area = Area of top+ Area of middle+ Area of bottom+ Area of

                                a right triangle+ Area of the left triangle

=13\times10+12\times10+5\times10+\rm \frac{1}{2} \times 5 \times12+\rm \frac{1}{2} \times 5 \times12

Thus, the 13\times10+12\times10+5\times10+\rm \frac{1}{2} \times 5 \times12+\rm \frac{1}{2} \times 5 \times12  equation can be used to calculate the surface area of the triangular prism.

A line with a slope of 4 passes through the points (8,7) and (7,p). What is the value of p
gayaneshka [121]

Answer:

p=3

Step-by-step explanation:

There are multiple ways to solve this, but since two points are provided (8,7) and (7,p) and the slope is also given (m=4), we can use the formula for the slope.

m = \dfrac{y_2-y_1}{x_2-x_1}

Here,

m=4\quad, (x_1,y_1)=(8,7)\quad,(x_2,y_2)=(7,p)

4 = \dfrac{p-7}{7-8}

Now we'll just solve for 'p'

4 = \dfrac{p-7}{-1}

4(-1) = p-7

-4+7 =p

p=3

Hence, the line passes through (8,7) and (7,3)

An icicle with a diameter of 15.5 centimeters at the top, tapers down in the shape of a cone with a length of
Helga [31]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

Note: I will leave the answers as fraction and in terms of pi unless the question states rounding conditions to ensure maximum precision.

From the question, we can tell it is a inversed-cone (upside down)

Volume of Cone = \pi r^{2} \frac{h}{3}

a) Given Diameter , d = 15.5cm and Length , h = 350cm,

we first find the radius.

r = \frac{d}{2} \\=\frac{15.5}{2} \\=7.75cm

We will now find the volume of the cone.

Volume of cone  \pi (7.75)^{2} \frac{350}{3} \\= \frac{168175\pi }{24}

We know the density of ice is 0.93 grams per 1cm^{3}

1cm^{3} =0.93g\\\frac{168175\pi }{24}  cm^{3} =0.93(\frac{168175\pi }{24} )\\= 20473 g(Nearest Gram)

b) After 1 hour, we know that the new radius = 7.75cm - 0.35cm = 7.4cm

and the new length, h = 350cm - 15cm = 335cm

Now we will find the volume of this newly-shaped cone.

Volume of cone = \pi (7.4)^{2} \frac{335}{3} \\= \frac{91723\pi }{15} cm^{3}

Volume of cone being melted = New Volume - Original volume

= \frac{168175\pi }{24} -\frac{91723\pi }{15} \\= \frac{35697\pi }{40} cm^{3}

c) Lets take the bucket as a round cylinder.

Given radius of bucket, r = 12.5cm (Half of Diameter) and h , height = 30cm.

Volume of cylinder = \pi r^{2} h\\=\pi (12.5)^{2} (30)\\=\frac{9375\pi }{2} cm^{3}

To overflow the bucket, the volume of ice melted must be more than the bucket volume.

Volume of ice melted after 5 hours = 5(\frac{35697\pi }{40} )\\=\frac{35697\pi }{8} cm^{3}

See, from here of course you are unable to tell whether the bucket will overflow as all are in fractions, but fret not, we can just find the difference.

Volume of bucket - Volume of ice melted after 5 hours

= \frac{9375\pi }{2} -\frac{35697\pi }{8 } \\=\frac{1803\pi }{8}cm^{3}

from we can see the bucket can still hold more melted ice even after 5 hours therefore it will not overflow.
