Amoeba and phytoplankton differ in that phytoplankton can perform photosynthesis. 
Phytoplankton contain chlorophyll and thus have the ability to utilize photosynthesis to make their own food using energy from sunlight. These organisms are the primary producers and therefore form the basic foundation of the food chain in the ocean ecosystem.

Answer: In photosynthesis, the Electron Transport Chain consists of 2 photo systems which use light energy from the sun. The ATP synthase uses the proton gradient established from the ETC to create more energy. ATP is produced from ATP synthase. NADPH is produced from the NADP reductase process.
