Refer to the Of Their Voyage and How They passed the Sea, and of Their Safe Arrival at Cape Cod" section from Of Plymouth Planta
Elodia [21]

The result of the young seaman's disrespectful attitude was that A. God punished the seaman for his cruelty by inflicting him with a sickness so serious that he did not recover.

William Bradford was one of the travelers on the Mayflower that was sailing to the future Plymouth colony. In his journals, he wrote of a young man who sailed with them.

The young man was quite problematic because:

 • he disrespected the sick
 • he cursed the sick and told them that he would help throw them overboard and take their property and,
 • he was quite vulgar

He was however struck with a sickness that according to William Bradford, came from God. The young man never made it to the colony and was instead thrown overboard.

In conclusion, because of the young man's disrespect, God punished him with an illness that killed him.

Read the following passage:
EastWind [94]

Answer:

A) The two cultures end up sharing traditions and advancements peacefully

Explanation:

Let's go through this by process of elimination.

A) The two cultures end up sharing traditions and advancements peacefully

This would ease the tension and the suspense in the cultural conflict of the story.

B) The narrator's people form an insulated community to preserve their heritage

This would ease the tension, however, the suspense of an attack would create commotion and suspense.

C) The narrator fights to regain the land that once belonged to his people.

This would NOT decrease the cultural conflict in this story.

D) The narrator convinces his people to let go of their traditions and

embrace progress.

This would create tension throughout the people as the narrator attempts to convince them to let go.

I am unsure of the answer, as it could be either A or D, but I would choose option A.

Read the sentence.
Arada [10]
The appositive is usually a group of words related to a noun, usually a subject, and describes it in more detail.
The appositive here is a river that flows through Egypt.
Another way of easily spotting an appositive is by looking for commas - if it is separated from the rest of the sentence by commas, it is likely to be an appositive.
