Ramon earns $1,835 each month and pays $53.50 on electricity. To the nearest tenth of a percent, what percent of Ramon's earning
irina1246 [14]

2.9 percent of Ramon's earnings are spent on electricity each month.

<u>Step-by-step explanation:</u>

given

Amount that Ramon earns each month=$1835

Amount Ramon pays on electricity=$53.5

we have to calculate what percentage of $1835 is $53.5

1835\times x/100=53.5\\x=53.5\times100/1835\\=2.9

The amount spent on electricity is 2.9% of his earnings

I just need an explanation on why I was wrong and why the correct answer is correct
Alja [10]

Answer:

B 1

Step-by-step explanation:

Since the divisor is in the form of <em>x - c</em>, use what is called Synthetic Division. Remember, in this formula, -c gives you the OPPOSITE terms of what they really are, so do not forget it. Anyway, here is how it is done:

2| -2 1 5 0 4 1

↓ -4 -6 -2 -4 0

_________________

-2 -3 -1 -2 0 1→ -2x⁴ - 3x³ - x² -2x + [x - 2]⁻¹

You start by placing the <em>c</em> in the top left corner, then list all the coefficients of your dividend [-2x⁵ + x⁴ + 5x³ + 4x + 1]. You bring down the original term closest to <em>c</em> then begin your multiplication. Now depending on what symbol your result is, tells you whether the next step is to <em>subtract</em> or <em>add</em>, then you continue this process starting with multiplication all the way up until you reach the end. Now, when the last term is 0, that means you have no remainder. Finally, your quotient is one degree less than your dividend, so that -2 in your quotient can be a -2x⁴, and the -3 [x³] follows right behind it, then 1 [-x²], -2[x], and finally, [1\x - 2] (remainder is 1, so set it over your denominator, which is the divisor), giving you the other factor of -2x⁴ - 3x³ - x² -2x + [x - 2]⁻¹.

I am joyous to assist you anytime.

**(x - 2)^{-1} =  \frac{1}{x - 2}

A ballplayer catches a ball 3.4s after throwing it vertically upward. with what speed did he throw it, and what height did it re
Daniel [21]

From the equation of motion, we know,

s=ut+\frac{1}{2}at^{2}

Where s= displacement

u= initial velocity

a= gravitational force

t= time

Displacement is 0 since the ball comes back to the same point from where it was thrown.

A = -9.8m/s^{2} since the ball is thrown upwards.

Plug the known values into the equation.

=> 0=u\left ( 3.4 \right )+\frac{1}{2}\left ( -9.81 \right )(3.4^{2})

Solving for u gives :

u= 16.67 m/ sec ....... equation (1)

At maximum height, final velocity i.e v is 0

Time take to reach the top = \frac{3.4}{2} = 1.7 sec

v^{2}=u^{2}+2as

=> 0=(16.67)^{2}+2(-9.81)(s)

Solving for s we get

s= 14.16 m
