The scale reads the Normal (reaction) force.

a) Upward acceleration

Balance of forces on the scale: Normal - Weight = ma

Normal = 56kg*g
Weight =50*g
ma = 50*a

56*g - 50*g =50*a => a =[ 56*g* - 50*g ] / 50 = 0.12*g =0.12*9.8m/s^2 =

a = 1.176 m/s^2

b) Downward acceleration

Weight - Normal = ma

=> Normal = Weight - m.a

Normal = 50*9.8m/s^2 -  50*1.176m/s^2 = 431.2 N

Scale reading: 431.2 N/ 9.8 N/m = 44 kg.

6.4$

Solution:

Divide 40 and 100(there must always be 100 when solving percentage) then it would be equal to 0.4

after it Multiply it to 16

so we get 6.4.

Four lines are drawn on a coordinate plane to form trapezoid WXYZ. Which statements are true about the lines? Select all that ap
Anastaziya [24]

Given a trapezoid WXYZ. In a trapezoid one pair of opposite sides are parallel .Parallel lines have same slope.Slope of line parallel to x axis is 0.If the line starts at the bottom left and goes towards the top right it has negative slope.

All that is true for Trapezoid WXYZ are:

Line WZ has the same slope as line XY.

Line XW has a lesser slope than line YZ.

Line ZW has the same y-intercept as line WZ.

Line XY has a greater y-intercept

Enter an equation in point-slope form for the perpendicular bisector of the segment with endpoints M(−3, 7) and N(9, −3). The po
scZoUnD [109]

Answer:

5y - 6x = 53

Step-by-step explanation:

Given the segment with endpoints  M(−3, 7) and N(9, −3), let us find the slope first

m = y2-y1/x2-x1

m = -3-7/9-(-3)

m = -10/12

m = -5/6

Since the unknown line forms a perpendicular bisector, the slope of the unknown line will be:

m = -1/(-5/6)

m = 6/5

To get the intercept of the line, we will substitute m = 6/5 and any point on the line say (-3, 7) into the equation y = mx+c

7 = 6/5 (-3)+c

7 = -18/5 + c

c = 7 + 18/5

c = (35+18)/5

c = 53/5

Substitute m = 6/5 and c = 53/5

y = 6/5 x + 53/5

multiply through by 5

5y = 6x + 53

5y - 6x = 53

hence the point-slope equation of the perpendicular bisector is 5y - 6x = 53
