Prompt 1: At the beginning of the novel, Mary Lennox, the protagonist, is percieved as obtaining a sour and rude attitude. Furthermore, selfishness, isolation, and a spoiled behavior charactized her early life, prior to her parents' death. Collin anticipates his death after being severely ill, similarly owning a defeatist approach to life, and throwing temper tantrums influencing his reputation. Later on in the book we also come to realise that the illness was more so a psychological mailaise stemming from being unloved, unwanted. The two share the positive trait of determination and resillience, the realisation and self growth of their character.
