Answer:

According to the question,

Initial velocity of car (at t=0) = 10 m/s

Final velocity of car (after 15 sec) = 40m/s

Time taken = 15 sec.

Now use, first equation of motion viz.

Explanation:

v = u + at.

40 = 10 + a *15

30 = a*15

a = 30/15

a = 2 m/sec square.

Two 25 kg children are sitting on a merry-go-round that is rotating at 0.10 rad/s. if one child is 1.0 m from the center and the
Grace [21]
The angular speed of the merry-go-round is
ω = 0.10 rad/s

The angular moment of inertia of a mass, m, at a radius, r, from the center of the wheel is
I = mr²

Therefore, the angular moment of inertia for the children are
I₁ = (25 kg)*(1.0 m)² = 25 kg-m²
I₂ = (25 kg)*(1.5 m)² = 56.25 kg-m²

The combined angular momentum is
ω(I₁ + I₂) = (0.10 rad/s)*(25 + 56.25 kg-m²)
               = 8.125 (kg-m²)/s

Answer: 8.125 (kg-m²)/s

An astronaut in her space suit has a total mass of 87.0kg including suit and oxygen tank. Her tether line loses its attachment t
Shtirlitz [24]

Answer:

Explanation:

a )

In space due to weightlessness both astronaut and her oxygen tank will float .

when she throws the tank away from spacecraft , she will have a velocity in opposite direction ie towards the spacecraft . This happens due to conservation of momentum . She creates a momentum away so that she can get a momentum towards the spaceship.

So

m₁ v₁ = m₂v₂

12 x 8 = ( 87 - 12 ) x v₂

v₂ = 1.28 m /s

Time allowed = 2 x 60

= 120 s

So maximum distance upto which she can remain away from spacecraft

= 120 x 1.28

= 153 m .

b )

The Newton's law which explains the theory behind it is "third law of motion"  . This law gives law of conservation of momentum .

Force f⃗ =−10j^n is exerted on a particle at r⃗ =(7i^+5j^)m. part a what is the torque on the particle about the origin?
cluponka [151]

Answer:

Torque, \tau=0i+0j-70k

Explanation:

It is given that,

Force acting on the particle, F=-10j\ N

Position of the particle, r=(7i+5j)\ m

We need to find the torque on the particle about the origin. It is equal to the cross product of position and the force. Its formula is given by :

\tau=r\times F

\tau=(7i+5j)\times (-10j)

The cross product of vectors is given by :

\tau=\begin{pmatrix}0&0&-70\end{pmatrix}

or

\tau=0i+0j-70k

So, the torque on the particle about the origin 0i+0j-70k. Hence, this is the required solution.
