The reaction between calcium carbonate (CaCO3) and HCl produces calcium chloride (CaCl2), carbon dioxide (CO2), and water (H2O).

What happens when the concentration of hydrogen chloride (HCl) molecules is doubled in this reaction? CaCO3 + 2HCl → CaCl2 + CO2 + H2O When the hydrogen chloride concentration doubles, the number of collisions between the reactants (increases, decreases, remains constant) , which causes the rate of the forward reaction to (increase, decrease, remain constant)

The given chemical reaction is between calcium carbonate and hydrochloric acid to produce calcium chloride, carbon dioxide and water. This reaction can be represented as,

CaCO_{3}(s) + 2HCl(aq)-->CaCl_{2}(aq)+H_{2}O(l)+CO_{2}(g)

When the concentration of the reactants is increased, the number of collisions that take place between the reactant molecules increases. This speeds up the reaction. Therefore, when the concentration of HCl is doubled as long as there is enough calcium carbonate to react with HCl, the number of effective collisions giving products increases, this causes the rate of forward reaction to increase.

Which characteristic of water helps it form strong bonds with other water molecules?
Solnce55 [7]

Answer:

The correct answer is Polar structure. See the explanation below, please.

Explanation:

The water molecule is formed by the union of an oxygen atom (O) to two hydrogen atoms (H), forming at an angle of 105 °, having the negative electron density over the O and positive over the H. The water due to its polarity can interact with other equal molecules, by hydrogen bridge (occurs between the atom of H and an electronegative element, in this case the O). It corresponds to a type of dipole-dipole interaction.

9. A box is pushed 1.5 m to the right in 5 s. What is the box’s average speed to the nearest hundredth of a m/s? *
poizon [28]

Answer:

s = 0.30 m/s

Explanation:

Given data:

Distance travel = 1.5 m

Time taken = 5 s

Average speed of box = ?

Solution:

s = d/t

s = speed

d = distance

t = time

by putting values,

s = 1.5 m/ 5 s

s = 0.30 m/s

how is the process of neutralization reaction like the procesd of mixing white and black paints to get gray
devlian [24]

Answer:

Acid neutralizes base to form salt and water while white colour neutralizes black colour to form grey colour.

Explanation:

Neutralization is simply the process whereby an acid and a base are mixed to produce salt and water. Now, this reaction also involves the mixing of the hydrogen ions of the acid and hydroxide ions of the base to form the salt and water. It is similar to mixing 2 paints to form another colour in that in the neutralization reaction 2 compounds are mixed to neutralize each other to form another compound while in mixing black and white to form grey the two colors are mixed together and thereby neutralized to form another colour which is grey.
