john currently has enough money to buy 45 books. If the cost of each book was 10 cents less.john could buy 5 more books. How muc
SVEN [57.7K]
Let the cost of one book= x cents
Let the money john have= y cents

According to the question,

45x=y                                               ...eq(1)
(45+5)(x-5)=y
50(x-5)=y
50x-250=y                                        ...eq(2)

On subtracting (1) from (2).
(50x-250)-45x=y-y
5x-250=0
x=250/5
x=50

Thus, cost of each book is 50 cents and john has 2250 cents.

Hope it helps.

How do i simplify this expression?
levacccp [35]
  First, you try to make sure that both the denominators are the same. In order to do this, you multiply both fractions' numerator and denominator by the other fraction's denominator. Next, you combine like terms in the numerator, and then you simplify the fraction.

the brightness of the illumination of an object varies inversely as the square of the distance from the object to the source of
Free_Kalibri [48]
I=k/d^2

4=k/d^2 and 1=k/64  so if we divide the first by the second we get:

4/1=(k/d^2)/(k/64)

4=(k/d^2)*(64/k)

4=64/d^2

d^2=64/4

d^2=16

d=4 meters
