Student P:

They messed up in step 1 because they made the 7.75 positive instead of negative, which causes the entire solution to be wrong

Student Q:

They were correct up until step 3. They didn't take all the negatives out of the equation (ex. -(3.5+7.75+29.67)).

Complete set:

From the picture, it looks like the original problem was

-2.5(1.4+3.1)+6.9(-4.3)

Step 1: multiply

1.4(-2.5)+3.1(-2.5)+6.9(-4.3)

Step 2: subtract (add?) them all together

-3.5-7.75-29.67

Step 3 should equal -40.92

Variables x and y are in direct proportion, and y = 48n when x = 16n. Which value of k correctly relates x and y in the equation
Nutka1998 [239]
Y = kx is the direct variation formula. They are giving y = 48n AFTER they have plugged in a value for x. The value plugged in for x is 16n. To find 'k' we must divide 48n by 16n.
48n/16n = 3 So k = 3.
The equation is therefore y = 3x

A jury pool consists of 50 potential jurors and how many ways can a jury of 12 be selected
bija089 [108]

Solution:

we are given that

A jury pool consists of 50 potential jurors.

Wee have been asked to find the number of ways can a jury of 12 be selected.

As we know from the concept of combination that r person can be selected out of n in ncr ways. where

n_C_r=\frac{n!}{r!(n-r)!}

Now substitute the values we get

{50}_C_{12}=\frac{50!}{12!(50-12)!}\\
\\
{50}_C_{12}=\frac{50!}{12!38!}\\
\\
{50}_C_{12}=121399651100\\

Hence the required number of ways is 121399651100
