The true speed and direction of the football thrown by the quarterback is 30.185 mph and 9⁰ respectively.

Relative velocity of the football

The true speed and direction of the football is determined by applying the concept of relative velocity.

Vr/w = Vb - Vw

where;

  • Vr/w is the velocity of the football with respect to the wind
  • Vb is the velocity of the football
  • Vw is the velocity of the wind

Vr/w = 41 mph - 11 mph = 30 mph

The direction speed can be determined by sketching a triangle

Direction of the speed, θ = (360 - 339) - (180 - 168)

                                       θ = 21 - 12 = 9⁰

Resultant speed;

R² = 41² + 11² - 2(41 x 11 x cos9)

R² = 911.105

R = √911.105

R = 30.185 mph

Thus, the true speed and direction of the football thrown by the quarterback is 30.185 mph and 9⁰ respectively.

The area of a rectangle is 490490 in squaredin2. the ratio of the length to the width is 5 : 25:2. find the length and the width
Arlecino [84]
Let the width be 2w. Then the lenght is 5w. So:
(2w)(5w)=490
10w²=490
w²=49
w=±7
So, 2w=width=14 in; and 5w=length=35 in

Find the coordinates of the midpoint of a segment with the given endpoints W(-12, -7), T(-8, -4)
jasenka [17]

Finding the midpoint coordinates of any segment really boils down to finding the midpoints of each individual coordinate.

The x-coordinates of the two points are -12 and -8 - the number halfway between those two is -10, so that'll be the midpoint's x-coordinate. The y-coordinates are -7 and -4 - -5.5 is halfway between these two, so the y-coordinate will be 5.5.

Putting the two together, the midpoint of the segment WT has the coordinates (-10, -5.5).

Mark buys a fresh pair of Walmart shoes that cost $35.99 plus 5.5% tax. How much did he pay?
elena55 [62]

Answer:

$37.97

Step-by-step explanation:

The price of the shoes before tax is 100% of the price of the shoes.

Then the tax adds 5.5% of the price of the shoes to the price of the shoes.

He ends up paying 100% + 5.5% of the price of the shoes.

100% + 5.5% = 105.5%

Now we find 105.5% of $35.99.

105.5% of $35.99 = 1.055 × $35.99 = $37.96945

Answer: $37.97
