Hello. Giraffes with longer necks survive compared to those with shorter necks because of natural selection. Over time, natural selection favors the traits that would make a species thrive better in the environment. Giraffes with short necks won't have access to that much food compared to those with long necks thus they eventually died out.

During upwelling, nutrient-rich water rises to the surface. How would this most likely affect the biotic components of the ecosy
hodyreva [135]

Answer: Increase in species numbers and diversity

Explanation:

Upwelling is an oceanographic phenomena in which the water from the bottom layers of the ocean usually above the seafloor get displaced and reach upto the surface layers with the effect of wind currents. The water carries away along with it the nutrients and the organic matter to the surface layers which allows the efficient growth of plant and planktonic diversity which favors the growth of sea animals like fishes and others. Hence, by this way the species diversity and numbers increases by the process of upwelling.

KatRina [158]

A "ring of Life" is more appropriate to describe the relationship between archaea, bacteria, and eukaryotes than a “tree of life “, because each group of single-celled prokaryotic organisms produces something that is a necessity to another group of single-celled prokaryotic organisms. so therefor it is not like a tree of life which is more of a hierarchy than an everyone, and everything is equal Ring of Life.
