Explanation:

Homeostasis is a process through which a cell or entire body of an organism tends to attain it's original state by countering any external environmental change to which it is exposed. In simple words we can define homeostasis as a regulatory mechanism which helps a cell/organism to maintain constant internal environment.

For example during summer season when external environment gets extremely hot and temperature rises up to 45-48 °C in such condition our body's internal temperature which is normally 37 °C gets affected and tends to rise so as to attain equilibrium with the external environment. But if the internal temperature will rise more than optimum temperature i.e. 37 °C then our body's machinery will cease to work and it will die out if temperature will keep on rising. In such scenario to avoid temperature rise our body will use homeostasis mechanism to counter the change. In order to do so we have sweat glands. Our sweat glands will start secreting sweat as a result of which the external heat rather than raising our body's temperature will be used to evaporate water present in the sweat and we will be able to protect our body from harmful external environment.
