The sum of two numbers is 4 less than twice the larger. if the larger is deecreased by three times the smaller, the reesult is -
erica [24]
Let the smaller number be x

let the larger number be y

According to Question-

x + y = 2y - 4
→ x - y = -4 ...1

if larger number is decreased by 1/3 we get equation -

x + y/3 = -20
→ 3x + y = -60 ...2

adding equation 1 and 2, we get:

4x = -64

→ x = -16

→ y = -60 - 3(-16)

→ y = -60 + 48

→ y = -12

A group of 4 people went to a movie. Each person bought a large drink and a small box of popcorn. They paid a total of $33.00 fo
MariettaO [177]

I'm pretty sure your answer should be $4.50 for each drink. I multiplied the price of the popcorn (3.75 including the tax) by 4, since there are 4 people, which gave me 15. Then take 15 out of 33.00 which gave me 18. Divide 18 by 4 (number of people) and get 4.5 or 4 1/2 which equals out to $4.50 for each drink.

3.75 · 4= 15

33.00 - 15= 18

18 ÷ 4= 4.5 or 4 1/2

Hope this helps! =^-^=

An equilateral triangle with side of is inscribed in a circle. What is the area of one of the sectors formed by the radii to the
Yakvenalex [24]
Let ABC the vertices of the EQUILATERAL triangle inscribed in the circle centered in O & with R as radius (sketch it to better understand)
Join OA & OB so that to calculate the area of sector BOA
Mesure Angle C = 1/2 mes Arc AB, but C =60° , then Arc AB = 120°
So the central angle AOB = mes ARC OAB = 120°
The area of a sector = mes angle BOA x R² (mind you angle should be in radian) Angle BOA = 120°or 2π/3 (in radian) the Area Sect = (2π/3).R²

A circle is centered at H(4, 0) and has a radius of 10. Where does the point L(-2, 8) lie
Anon25 [30]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

HL=√((-2-4)²+(8-0)²)=√(36+64)=√100=10=radius

so L lies on the circumference of circle.

or eq. of circle is (x-4)²+(y-0)²=10²

(x-4)²+y²=100

Put x=-2,y=8

(-2-4)²+8²=100

36+64=100

or 100=100

which is true.

Hence L lies on the circle.
