Biology

Answer:

The effects of tropical cyclones in Europe and their extratropical remnants include strong winds, heavy rainfall, and in rare instances, tornadoes or snowfall. There are only two modern cyclones officially regarded as directly impacting mainland Europe while still fully tropical or subtropical: Hurricane Vince in 2005, which struck southwestern Spain as a tropical depression; and Subtropical Storm Alpha in 2020, which made landfall in northern Portugal at peak intensity. Hurricane Debbie in 1961 may have still been tropical when it made landfall in northwestern Ireland, but this is disputed.[nb 1] In 1842, it is believed that a hurricane struck Europe.

Cara is explaining to her sister how the solar system formed. Which description would she use to explain the solar nebula
Alexandra [31]

Answer:

The correct answer is A. a rotating cloud of dust and gas.

Explanation:

Nebulae are regions of the interstellar medium (clouds) made up of gases (mainly hydrogen and helium) and dust. In other words, nebulae are concentrations of gas in which we find hydrogen, helium and stardust in greater quantities. They are structures that are actually very important for the universe, this because inside it is the place where stars are born, which arise due to the condensation and aggregation of matter. The nebular theory states that the Solar System reached the form current from a solar nebula (a gas cloud), more than 4.5 billion years ago. The large cloud of molecular gas was affected by a certain phenomenon that would have taken place in the vicinity. Like the explosion of a supernova or the passage of a star that would produce a strong gravitational impact. The result of this event made the matter agglomerate in different places. The high concentration of matter caused the nebula to collapse. Becoming a protostar, (bodies whose characteristic is to be surrounded by clouds and contain preplanetary matter inside), that is, gaseous matter in the outermost part and solid inward. At the core of this structure, the temperature is so dominant that nuclear reactions take place to compensate for the gravitational force. This leads to a hydrostatic equilibrium and the formation of a fundamental star: the Sun. The rest of the mass flattened, forming a protoplanetary disk where the protoplanets were being formed, which would evolve to become the current planets, their satellites and the others bodies of the solar system.

Answer:

BbFf is the genotype of parent Hippogriffs

Explanation:

Given -

Big beaks, B, are dominant to small beaks, b.

Brown feathers, F, are dominant to white feathers, f.

Two brown, big-beaked Hippogriffs are mated to produce 15 brown and big-beaked; 4  white and big-beaked; and 1  white and small-beaked offspring

The genotype of parents is BbFf

Comparing the structures of the carotenes to the chlorophylls, which (the carotenes or the chlorophylls) are more polar? Which (
natali 33 [55]

Answer:

Carotenes are less polar and would elute first.

Explanation:

Carotenes are organic compounds like chlorophyll, they are responsible for the orange color in carrot. So, while chlorophyll is green, carotene is orange in color.

In terms of structure, carotene is a hydrocarbon (made up of carbon and hydrogen chains), making it non-polar. On the other hand, chlorophyll (made up of carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen, magnesium) is more polar.

Chromatography is a separation technique used to separate two or more mixtures. The working principle is based on how fast each solute travels. So in column chromatography, the components of the mixture travel through a column (e.g a burette) at different speed. The less polar component travels faster.

So far a mixture of carotene and chlorophyll, the less polar carotene will travel faster than the more polar chlorophyll. Therefore, carotene will elute first.

What is a major reservoir for ammonia?
-Dominant- [34]

Answer:

The major reservoir for Ammonia is the natural soil, where it is present in abundance.

Explanation:

In soil, ammonia is found in quite abundance, where it is changed into nitrate through a process commonly knows as Nitrification. In the nitrification process, first, nitrite is formed which is followed by its conversion into nitrate by a bacteria known as Nitrobacteria. Finally, this nitrate is consumed by the plants, which are then eaten up by the animals.
