Sprain is an injury that causes stretching or rupture of ligaments in the joint. Experts often suggest ice in the region to relieve pain and reduce swelling. This ice should be placed four to eight times a day for 20 minutes at a time.

Ice is an excellent analgesic and anti-inflammatory method. Low-cost and home-made, it can be taken in risky sports (football, racing, volleyball, etc.) and can be administered immediately after injury. However, care must be taken because very low temperatures can damage nerve structures that are very sensitive to temperature changes.
