A fair die is rolled four times. Find the probability that all four rolls show different numbers
tensa zangetsu [6.8K]

Number of such outcomes, in which each number is no less than the preceding number, will be equal to number of ways of selecting 4 numbers from 6, with replacement; without considering order!

Why?

Lets choose any such set of size 4, say {2, 1, 1, 3}. we can sort it to get a sequence {1,1,2,3} which is one of our desired outcomes. So each such sorted sequence corresponds to one selection of size 4, with replacement and without considering order.

Number of such selections will be equal to number of solutions of following equation:

x1 + x2 + x3 + x4 + x5 + x6 = 4

where:

x1: number of 1 in the selections

x2: number of 2s in the selection

.

.

x6: number of 6s in the selection

Number unique solutions of such equation = 9 choose 5 = 126

(For more details on this see : Unordered sampling with replacement )

Number of possible outcomes = 6^4 = 1296

Probability of favorable outcomes = 126/1296=7/72

Probability of landing in the white not the red. Please helpppppppppppp!
Iteru [2.4K]

Fun, geometry disguised as probability.

That's a pentagon, which we can view as 10 right triangles with legs a and s/2 (half of s) and hypotenuse r.  So area of the pentagon is

P = 10 × (1/2) a (s/2) = 10 (1/2) (3.2) (4.7/2) = 37.6

The area of the circle is πr² so the circle area is

C = π (4²) = 50.265482

The white area is the difference, C-P, and the probability we seek is the fraction of the circle that's white, so (C-P)/C.

p = (C-P)/C =1-P/C = 1-37.6/50.265482 = 0.251971

Answer: 0.25

Higher than I would have guessed from the figure.

Wats the answer for this math or
allochka39001 [22]
The answer is D because the whole circle is 369 degrees the big arc is 202 so 360- 202 is 158 then you have an inscribed angle of 35 multiply it by two to find the arc of that so it would be 70 so subtract 158-70=88 and you can see that that section of 88 is part of an inscribed angle so divide by two to get the answer of 44
