Therefore, we can write,

(Number of Tiles before) + 1 tile = (Number of Tiles afterward)

5x + 1 = 3(x+3)

5x + 1 = 3x + 9

5x - 3x = 9 - 1

2x = 8

x = 4

Hence, the number of rows in the original pattern will be 4.
