digestion is the bodies process of turning food into nutrients for the body to use

Explanation:

if i ate a pepermint in my mouth and began to chew it, saliva would enter the mouth to help break down that piece of candy. once it is reduced to swallowable sizes, it travels down the esophagus, the muscles being ised to safely push the food down, it wnters the stomach. gastric acids in the stomach break down the food placed in it and it is then sent to the small intestine where most nutrients are absorbed to be used. any solid that doesnt make it gets sent to the large intestine where the remaining nutrients are absorbed and the remains of that becomes fecal matter that gets excreted through the anus and colon.
