How to find equation of the unknown

let

• x = end part
• Beginning = 1/6x
• Middle = 1/2x
• Total = 400 seconds

x + 1/6x + 1/2x = 400

(6x+x+3x) / 6 = 400

10/6x = 400

x = 400 ÷ 10/6

x = 400 × 6/ 10

= 2400 / 10

= 240 seconds

Therefore,

End part = x

= 240 seconds

Beginning = 1/6x

= 1/6 × 240

= 40 seconds

Middle = 1/2x

= 1/2 × 240

= 120 seconds
