Earth revolves around the sun, keeping doldrums stationary causes the doldrums to be calm winds. Thus, the correct option is C.

Why are the doldrums so calm?

The Intertropical Convergence Zone, also known as the doldrums or calms by sailors due to its constant lack of wind, is the area where the northeast and southeast trade winds meet. It encircles the Earth near the thermal equator, however its exact location changes with the seasons.

The sunlight beams down directly on the area around the equator, the Doldrums are caused by solar radiation from the sun. Instead of blowing horizontally, this heating causes the air to warm and climb straight up. As a result, there is little or no wind for weeks at a time.

Which of the following best describes passive transport of materials across a membrane?
VikaD [51]

The answer is passive transport does not require energy and moves materials from areas of relatively higher to lower concentration.

Passive transport is a movement of ions and other atomic or molecular substances across cell membranes without need of energy input. Unlike active transport, it does not require an input of cellular energy because it is instead driven by the tendency of the system to grow in entropy.

In which mitotic phase are the sister chromatids separated and pulled to opposite poles?
babymother [125]

Answer:

Anaphase would be the correct answer. So you know anaphase is the shortest phase of mitosis; because literally all that happens is chromatids are pulled to polar opposite sides of the cell. All the work for this phase is completed in metaphase when spindle fibers (microtubules) grow from the centrioles and bind to the kinetochores of the chromosome.
