A concept map for four types of intermolecular forces and a certain type of bond is shown. An ellipse is shown. Inside the ellip

se is written Are ions present. An arrow from the right side of the ellipse has Yes written on it and points to another ellipse. This ellipse has Are polar molecules present written inside it. This ellipse has two arrows coming out of it. One arrow has Yes written on it and leads to a rectangular box that has D written inside it. The second arrow has No written on it and leads to a rectangular box that has E written inside it. An arrow from the left of the topmost ellipse has No written on it and leads to an ellipse that has Are molecules with permanent dipoles present Written on it. An arrow that has No written on it, points from this ellipse towards a rectangle that has A written inside it. An arrow that has Yes written on it, points from this ellipse towards another ellipse that has Is H atom bonded to F, O, or N atom Written on it. This ellipse also has two arrows coming from it. The arrow with Yes written on it leads to a rectangle that has C written on it and the arrow that has No written on it leads to a rectangle that has B written inside it. Compare the relative strength of the two forces C and D. Explain how you determined this comparison by identifying the forces.

The information given shows that the intermolecular force in C will be higher than the intermolecular force in D.

What is a intermolecular force?

It should be noted that an intermolecular force simply means the attractive or repulsive force which arise between the molecules of a substance.

In this case, the intermolecular force in D will be higher than the intermolecular force in C.

This is attributed to the fact that the dominant intermolecular force in C is hydrogen bonding while in D, it's dipole - dipole bonding.

It should be noted that hydrogen bonding is the highest intermolecular force in gases and liquids.

In D, due to the dipole-dipole force, the ions that has same charge will repel each other.

GREETINGS!

_____________________________________

Answer:

ITS C_{4}H_{10} AND C_{5}H_{12}

_____________________________________

GENERAL FORMULA OF ALKANE

                    C_{n}H_{2n+2}

Where n is the number of CARBONS

_____________________________________

A)

By using the General Formula of Alkanes having 4 carbon atoms is

                        C_{4}H_{2x4+2}

                        C_{4}H_{10}

C)

By using the General Formula of Alkanes having 5 carbon atoms is

                         C_{5}H_{2x5+2}

                         C_{5}H_{12}

_____________________________________

IF YOU USE THE SAME FORMULA FOR THE OTHER TWO OPTIONS THE OUTCOME WILL NOT BE AS SAME AS GIVEN IN THE QUESTION SO THOSE TWO ARE CAN NOT BE OUR ANSWER

_____________________________________

HOPE THIS HELPS!

Thermal energy changes states because
Artyom0805 [142]
.Thermal energy, an extensive property, depends on the number of particles in a substance as well as the amount of energy each particle has. If either the number of particles or the amount of energy in each particle changes, the thermal energy of the sample changes. With identi- cally sized samples, the warmer substance has the greater ther- mal energy. hope that helps.
