The $378.49 was earned on the investment if the principal amount of $3000 is invested for 3 years at 4% compounded semi-annually.

<h3>What is compound interest?</h3>

It is defined as the interest on the principal value or deposit and the interest which is gained on the principal value in the previous year.

We can calculate the compound interest using the below formula:

\rm A = P(1+\dfrac{r}{n})^{nt}

Where A = Final amount

          P = Principal amount

          r  = annual rate of interest

          n = how many times interest is compounded per year

          t = How long the money is deposited or borrowed (in years)

Here,

P = $3000

r = 4% = 0.04

n = 2

t = 3 years

After plugging all the values in the formula:

\rm A = 3000(1+\dfrac{0.04}{2})^{2\times 3}

After solving:

A = $3,378.49

I = A - P = 3,378.49 - 3000 = $378.49

Thus, the $378.49 was earned on the investment if the principal amount of $3000 is invested for 3 years at 4% compounded semi-annually.

Rita bakes cakes to earn money. She spent $30 for supplies to make 15 cakes. Which inequality shows how much Rita has to charge
Alex Ar [27]

First we have to see the formula of profit, which is

Selling \ price - cost \ price = profit

And it is given that profit should be atleast $150, that is

Profit  \geq  150 \\ Selling \ price - cost \ price \geq 150

Let Ritax dollars per cake, so for 15 cakes, she charge 15x .

And she epent 30 dollars for 15 cakes.

So we will get

15x-30 \geq 150

Adding 30 to both sides

15x \geq  180 \\ x \geq 12

Correct option is the second option .

The numeric value of the expression -a² - 2bc - |c| for a = -3, b = -5 and c = 2 is of 9.

<h3>How to find the numeric value of an expression?</h3>

The numeric value of an expression is found replacing each letter by it's attributed value.

In this problem, the expression is:

-a² - 2bc - |c|

The attributed values are:

a = -3, b = -5 and c = 2

Hence the numeric value will be given by:

-a² - 2bc - |c| = -(-3)² - 2(-5)(2) - |2| = -(9) + 20 - 2 = -9 + 18 = 9.
