A group that an individual identifies with and that influences beliefs, attitudes, values, or behavior is called a reference group.

A reference group is a group that is used to compare the beliefs, attitudes, values, or behaviour of another group.

  • A reference group operates as a group that is used as foundation and/or base for conducting evaluations on other groups.
  • In order to understand and predict behavioral patterns, a reference group is required.

People's perceptions of the world are formed through reference groups. It helps in creating a concrete opinion, beliefs, attitudes, and behaviors in this group will influence the lives of others. People in this group are always in point of comparison. These reference groups act as a help people better understand what usually has accepted behavior in society. Think about how many children look up to adults for guidance. A young boy might watch his father and see him as a model for how to behave. His father would be someone in his reference group.

Reference groups are of two types: Normative and Comparitive.

If the government of smartypants wanted to subsidize college education, how much would it subsidize each student to achieve the
True [87]
I think it would depend upon the financial background of a student. A good family financial support does not need a big amount for education. The US offers part time job opportunities that are favorable for them. The percentage should still look into a financial assessment for school education and have a definite clustered support that is based on their capacity to go through the whole course.
