w = 9 feet far you should hold the ladder while they climb back in

Let the length be l = 15 feet and open window feet above the ground be k= 12 feet

The value of w will be given by the Pythagoras theorem,

Pythagoras theorem: In a right-angled triangle, the square of the long side is equal to the sum of the squares of the other two sides.

It is stated in this formula:

w^{2} =l^{2}- k^{2} \\\\w^{2}= 15^{2}- 12^{2} \\\\w^{2} = 225-144\\\\w^{2} = 81\\\\w=9

Hence,  w = 9 feet far you should hold the ladder while they climb back in.

<h3>The ladder will reach a height of 11.8 feet up the wall</h3>

<em><u>Solution:</u></em>

The ladder, wall and base of the ladder from wall forms a right angled triangle

Length of ladder forms the hypotenuse

Length of ladder = 12 foot

base of the ladder from wall = 2 feet

<em><u>To find: height of wall</u></em>

By pythagoras theorem.

c^2 = a^2+b^2

Where,

"c" is the Length of ladder

"a" is the base of the ladder from wall

"b" is the height of wall

Substituting the values,

12^2 = 2^2+b^2\\\\144 = 4 + b^2\\\\b^2 = 140\\\\b = \pm 11.832 \\\\Ignore\ negative\ value\\\\b \approx 11.8

Thus, the ladder will reach a height of 11.8 feet on wall

If its takes 3 days to travel 1,560 miles how many days will it take 3,640 miles
lilavasa [31]

The net rate per day is 520 miles per day because 1560 miles divided by 3 days is 520/day. Therefore, we need to see how many days (520 mi) fit into 3640 mi.

3640/520=7

Therefore, it will take 7 days to travel 3640 miles.

The area of a circle is 47.39cm2. find the length of the radius rounded to 2 dp.
Tpy6a [65]

The length of the radius rounded to 2 decimal points is 3.88cm.

In geometry, the area enclosed by a circle of radius r is pie  πr^2.

How to round decimals?

Rounding decimals consists of rounding a decimal number to a certain number of decimal places, to save time and help us express really long numbers in shorter terms. There are certain rules to follow when rounding a decimal number. Put simply, if the last digit is less than 5, round the previous digit down. However, if it’s 5 or more than you should round the previous digit up. So, if the number you are about to round is followed by 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 round the number up. And if it is followed by 0, 1, 2, 3, 4 round the number down.

The area of circle is 47.39cm^2.

Putting it in the formula we get

47.39cm^2 = πr^2

r^2 = 47.39 / π

r^2 = 15.0847

r = 3.88 cm

Hence the length of the radius rounded to 2 decimal points is 3.88cm.
