The most effective thing he can do to start making physical fitness a priority is to replace one passive activity with one physical activity each day.
Instead of just sitting in front of the computer or TV screen, maybe he could do a quick exercise just to get in shape a bit.

It depends on the type of injury that he got. so if he hurt his legs, he could do something involving his arms like lifting small weights.
