Can you tell me how to factorise 6b+24bc
Kamila [148]
When we factorise an expression, we are looking for simple factors that multiply to get the original expression. Usually it is very natural to factorise something like a quadratic in x. For example:

x^2 + 3x + 2 = (x+1)(x+2)

But there are other situations where factorisation can be applied. Take this quadratic:

x^2 - 9x = x(x-9)

This second example is closer to the question in hand. Just like x was a common factor to both x^2 and -9x, we are looking for a common factor to both 6b and 24bc. The common factor is 6b.

Hence 6b + 24bc = 6b(1 + 4c).

I hope this helps you :)

a car rent is $240 per week plus $1.00 per mile. Find the rental cost for a two week trip of 500 miles for a group of three peop
tankabanditka [31]

Answer:

I'm not sure if you mean each person has a car for 2 weeks and travels 500 miles each but if so the rental cost is $2,940.

If it is just one car for all 3 people the rental cost is $980

Step-by-step explanation:

renatl cost = r

weeks = w

miles = m

the equation would be  r = $240w + $1m

and if there are 3 people you mulitply the answer by 3

The length of the hypotenuse of a right triangle is 24. If the length of one leg is 8, what is approximate length of the other l
Verdich [7]

Something that a right triangle is characterised by is the fact that we may use Pythagoras' theorem to find the length of any one of its sides, given that we know the length of the other two sides. Here, we know the length of the hypotenuse and one other side, therefor we can easily use the theorem to solve for the remaining side.

Now, Pythagoras' Theorem is defined as follows:

c^2 = a^2 + b^2, where c is the length of the hypotenuse and a and b are the lengths of the other two sides.

Given that we know that c = 24 and a = 8, we can find b by substituting c and a into the formula we defined above:

c^2 = a^2 + b^2

24^2 = 8^2 + b^2 (Substitute c = 24 and a = 8)

b^2 = 24^2 - 8^2 (Subtract 8^2 from both sides)

b = √(24^2 - 8^2) (Take the square root of both sides)

b = √512 (Evaluate 24^2 - 8^2)

b = 16√2 (Simplify √512)

= 22.627 (to three decimal places)

I wasn't sure about whether by 'approximate length' you meant for the length to be rounded to a certain number of decimal places or whether you were meant to do more of an estimate based on your knowledge of surds and powers. If you need any more clarification however don't hesitate to comment below.
