The confidence interval is 0.028, 0.872

Given

862 of 1013 randomly selected adults wear seat belts.

The 95% confidence interval for the proportion of adults who always wear seat belts.

What is confidence interval?

A Confidence Interval is defined as a range of values we are sure our true value lies within it.

What is 95% confidence interval?

A 95% confidence interval is defined as that if we take 100 different samples and compute a 95% confidence interval for each sample, then approximately 95 of the 100 confidence intervals will contain the true mean value.

= 862/1013 = 0.85

At a 95% confidence interval ,the critical value is z_{0.025} = 1.96

The 95% confidence interval for proportion is

\widehat p +/- z0.025 * sqrt(\widehat p * (1 - \widehat p)/n)

= 0.85 +/- 1.96 * sqrt(0.85 * (1 - 0.85)/1013)

= 0.85 +/- 0.022

= 0.028, 0.872

The sample should use at least 10 successes and 10 failures.

n * \widehat p = 1013 * 0.85 = 861 > 10

n * (1 - \widehat p) = 1013 * 0.15 = 152 > 10

As the sample size is larger, we can use an approximate formula for the standard error.

Fred placed 3 strands of bacteria in a petri dish. The bacteria strands double every hour. Write a formula to represent how many
miv72 [106K]

Answer:

C.f(n) = 3(2)^n ; 48 strands of bacteria

Step-by-step explanation:

Fred placed 3 strands of bacteria in a petri dish.

The bacteria strands double every hour.

Formula : y = ab^x

Where a is the initial value

b = growth rate

x = hours

So, A formula to represent how many bacteria strands are present at the nth hour : f(n)=3(2)^n

Now we are supposed to find how many strands of bacteria are present at 4 hours.

Substitute the value in the formula :

f(4)=3(2)^{4}

f(4)=48

Hence 48 strands of bacteria are present at 4 hours.

AnnyKZ [126]

Answer:

Shoe survey:

2.) 8 people own Adidas ONLY

Allergies:

3.) 14 people not allergic

4.) 9 people are allergic to milk

5.) 23 people are allergic to 1 thing or " less than 2 foods"

6.) They said "or" in the question but here's both answers: 14 to milk and 18 to banana

Love the Actors:

7.) 21 people like Will Smith

8.) 2 people who don't like either

Step-by-step explanation:

1.) It said 20 people own BOTH brands so subtract 20 from the Nike shoes & Adidas shoes, giving 4 people who only use Nike and 8 people who use Adidas, don't forget the 2 who have neither. Add 20+4+8+2=34

2.) As we found out (above) there are 8 people who use Adidas

3.) Keep in mind there are 50 people were surveyed, add all the numbers

( =36) then subtract 50 (the total) minus 36 giving you 14

4.) Add 6( only milk) + 3( banana &milk)= 9

The rest is to long and don't want to keep you wanting

I did the math thou... hope this helps :)
