You missed an operand in the set of parentheses...if it was (x-9) we have:

5(x-9)-23=42  do multiplication indicated on left side...

5x-45-23=42  sum up like terms on left...

5x-68=42  add 68 to both sides

5x=110 divide both sides by 5

x=22  since this answer isn't in your choices the parentheses must have contained (x+9)...uggh :)

5(x+9)-23=42  perform indicated multiplication on left side...

5x+45-23=42  combine like terms on left side...

5x+22=42 subtract 22 from both sides

5x=20 divide both sides by 5

x=4

Martha works in a toy shop and earns $44 per day. She earns an extra $2 for each toy she sells. If Martha wants to earn at least
pantera1 [17]
Martha's total earnings is the sum of her fixed pay pay day and the extra she gains based on the number of toys she sold. Her total earnings may be expressed as,

                                        44 + 2n

Since she desires to earn $80 or more, the inequality is expressed as

                                         44 + 2n ≥ 80

Solving for n from the inequality,

                                                    n ≥18

Thus, the answer is the first choice.

Rewrite in simplest terms: -10(-v+6w)-w-9(-3w-v)−10(−v+6w)−w−9(−3w−v)
spayn [35]

The simplest form of the expression is -10 + 8v + 32w

Given the expression

-10(-v+6w)-w-9(-3w-v)

First, we need to expand the given equation using the distributive law:

-10(-v+6w)-w-9(-3w-v)

= -10-v+6w-w-9(-3w)+9(v)

=  -10-v+6w-w+27w+9v

Collect the like terms:

= -10 - v +9v + 6w - w+ 27w

= -10 + 8v + 32w

Hence the simplest form of the expression is -10 + 8v + 32w
