Answer:

x=-\frac{1}{2},\frac{5}{2}

Step-by-step explanation:

1) Split the second term in 4{x}^{2}-8x-5  into two terms.

1- Multiply the coefficient of the first term by the constant term.

4\times -5=-20 to -8 and multiply to -−20?

2 and −10

3 - Split -8x as the sum of 2x and -10x.

4x^2+2x-10x-5

2)  Factor out common terms in the first two terms, then in the last two terms.

2x(2x+1)-5(2x+1)=0

3) Factor out the common term 2x+1.

(2x+1)(2x-5)=0

4) Solve for x.

1 - Ask: When will (2x+1)(2x-5) equal zero?

When 2x + 1 = 0 or 2x - 5 = 0

2 - Solve each of the 2 equations above.

x=-\frac{1}{2},\frac{5}{2}

Answer:

x = 2, -2, -1/5

Step-by-step explanation:

g(x)= 5x^3+x^2-20x-4

g(x)= x^2(5x+1)-4(5x+1)

g(x)=(x^2-4)(5x+1)

g(x)=(x-2)(x+2)(5x+1)

x-2=0

x= 2

x+2=0

x= -2

5x+1=0

x= -1/5
