Put it right away in a container that won't puncture  is the correct way to Needle handling after it is used to give a vitamin injection to a healthy patient

Needle Handling - The sharp object should not be exposed or unwrapped until it is time to utilize it.
At all times, keep the needle pointed away from you and other people.
Never bend or recap the needle.
Avoid touching the needle's tip with your fingers.
If the item is reusable, after use, store it in a safe, closed container.
Never give someone else a needle or place one on a tray for them to pick up.
When you intend to place the item down or take it up, let the folks you are working with know.
When placing the needle in the sharps container, grasp both the needle and the tubing if they are attached.
