Biology

d. CO (carbon monoxide) is not an acidic oxide.

Acidic oxides are those oxides which either act as acceptors of the hydroxide ions (OH-) and function as a Lewis acid or they produce an acidic solution when added to water. Examples of acidic oxides are P4O10 (Phosphorus pentoxide), P4O6 (Tetraphosphorus hexaoxide), SO3 (Sulfur trioxide), SiO2 (Silicon dioxide) etc.

Neutral oxides do not show either of the basic or acidic properties. Due to this fact, they do not form salts when they react with acids or bases. Examples of neutral oxides include CO (carbon monoxide), NO (Nitric oxide), N2O (Nitrous oxide) etc.

Hence, option d is correct.

A segment of DNA that codes for RNA, and can vary in length from a few hundred to as many as two million base pairs in length be
klasskru [66]

We can confirm that a segment of DNA that codes for RNA and can vary in length from a few hundred to as many as two million base pairs in length best defines a gene.

<h3>What is a gene?</h3>

To expand on the definition given, we can say that a gene is, as mentioned, a series of base pairs known as nucleotides that will code for RNA. The RNA in question is messenger RNA that will later become a protein. Through this process, genes code for every aspect of an organism and will determine its morphology and all other biological aspects.

Therefore, we can confirm that a segment of DNA that codes for RNA and can vary in length from a few hundred to as many as two million base pairs in length best defines a gene.

An experiment in which only one variable is changed is a (an) ________ experiment. Help!
mojhsa [17]
All controlled experiments would have only one variable. If there were more than one variable the outcome of  your experiment could be for multiple reasons and thus you would not be able to test whether your specific hypothesis was valid.

A 40 watt filament light bulb and a 100 watt filament light bulb are connected in series to a battery. Which bulb will glow brig
DaniilM [7]

Answer:

100 watt

Explanation:

In parallel the 100w bulb will glow brighter.

The 100w bulb has a lower resistance of the two. That’s why it uses more power normally.

In series, the same current must flow through the two bulbs. And beacuse the power in each bulb is proportional to the resistance, keeping the current constant, the bulb with the highest resistance will glow brightest.

Ignoring the effect of the heat if the filaments. As the resistance in the glowing wire increases with temperature, the bulb with the highest resistance will glow proporitionally more than the power difference suggests. Likely the 100w bulb will not glow at all.
