In order to improve the science-policy interaction for biodiversity and ecosystem services for the conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity, States formed the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES).

IPBES is tasked with conducting timely and routine assessments of the body of knowledge regarding biodiversity, ecosystem services, and the connections between them on a global scale.

What is Biodiversity and ecosystem ?

The variety of animals, plants, fungi, and even microorganisms like bacteria that make up our natural environment are all included in what is known as biodiversity. These various species and critters collaborate in complicated web-like ecosystems to keep things in balance and support life.

 • By raising the possibility that species would use complementary resources and by increasing the likelihood that a particularly productive or efficient species is present in the population, increasing species diversity can influence ecosystem functions, such as productivity.

An enzyme that can bind to and break apart molecules of lactose should also be able to bind: a. fatty acids. b. amino acids. c.
Airida [17]

Answer: Option E) None of the above is true; this enzyme could bind none of these.

Explanation:

Lactose is a dissacharide composed of glucose and galactose. Hence, the enzyme lactase break down lactose into its simple sugar constituents.

However, lactase cannot bind nor break down amino acids, starch (with only glucose units) or sucrose (with two glucose units) because their constituent molecules differ markedly from that of lactose.

Thus, the enzyme lactase could bind with none of the options provided except lactose
