Not all intercellular signals require transduction. For example, a lipid-soluble signal is one of the types of signals which can be processed without transduction.

Lipid signaling can be broadly defined or refers to a kind of biological signaling event which involves a lipid messenger that binds a target protein, such as a kinase, receptor, or phosphatase, that judges the effects of these lipids on the specific cellular responses.

Therefore, a lipid-soluble signal does not require signal transduction because a lipid-soluble signal can easily dissolve in the blood and can easily flow or transmit throughout the body and organs. They don't require any series of molecular events for transmission.
