It will take both of them 2 11/12 hours to complete the room

<h3>Fractions and proportions</h3>

Fractions are written as a ratio of two integers. For instance a/b is a fraction.

Let the time it will take them to complete the job together be "x" such that;

1/x = 1/5 + 1/7

Simplify

1/x = 7+5/35

1/x = 12/35

Cross multiply

12x = 35

x = 35/12

x = 2 11/12 hours

Therefore it will take both of them 2 11/12 hours to complete the room

Answer:

g(q) = \frac{5q}{8}

Step-by-step explanation:

Given

- 7q + 12r = 3q - 4r

Rearrange making r the subject

Add 7q to both sides

12r = 10q - 4r ( add 4r to both sides )

16r = 10q ( divide both sides by 16 )

r = \frac{10q}{16} = \frac{5q}{8} , thus

g(q) = \frac{5q}{8}

Find all possible values of x in the similar triangles pqr stu
antoniya [11.8K]
If triangles PQR and STU are similar then PQ corresponds to ST and PR corresponds to SU. Therefore, PQ/ST=PR/SU
Considering that, PQ= 7-x, ST= 13-x, PR= x²+5 and SU= x² +20
therefore, (7-x)/(13-x)= (x²+5)/(x²+20)
               cross multiplying,
         7x² +140-x³+20x =13x²+65-x³-5x
combining the like terms,
          6x² +15x -75=0
          solving for x,
    x = 5/2 or -5
