What is the Harlem Renaissance?

Harlem Renaissance is a time period when the Black people promoted their culture in America through different types of literary work.

Through their books, plays, songs, and poems, they told their story and showed that the Blacks were also unique in their own ways. Most of their works were aimed at opposing the racism that had taken over society.

Harlem Renaissance set in at a tie when the blacks were struggling to be heard and recognized in the United States. To show and promote their ideologies, they used civil means of communication. These included the use of literary works and arts as has been mentioned already. These features reflected their own culture and helped to promote them.
