Draining of abscesses is a treatment for this condition. In this, the doctor cuts an incision to drain out the pus from the abscess.

Before doing this procedure, the patient is put on a course of antibiotics to prevent any kind of infection that may be resulted from the draining pus.

Therefore, if a patent has a draining abscess, the nurse should avoid physical contact with the patient.
