Seawater contains 3.00 mg of uranium per cubic meter.

Given:

The average ocean depth, d=4km=4000m

Water covers two-thirds of the Earth's surface

Then, the estimated amount of uranium dissolved in the ocean is 4.08 \times 10^{15}g.

We know, that the mass per unit volume of Uranium ism=3\times 10^{-3} g/m^{3}.

Also, the world's energy requirement is E_n=1.5\times10^{13} J/s.

The radius of the earth is x=6.371\times10^{6}.

Calculating the amount of Uranium under the seawater is given by the expression:

A_m= md ( \frac{2}{3} 4\pi x^{3})

Substituting all the values in the expression, we get

A_m=3\times 10^{-3} \times4000 ( \frac{2}{3} \times4\times\pi (6.371\times10^{6})^{3})=4.08\times 10^{15}g.

Thus, the amount of Uranium dissolved in the ocean is 4.08 \times 10^{15}g

The heating element of an iron operates at 110 V with a current of 9A. (a) What is the resistance of the iron?
Dmitrij [34]

Answer:

(A) 12.222 ohm (B) 990 W

Explanation:

We have given the voltage of the heating element V = 110 V

The current in the heating element i = 9 A

(a) According to ohm's law V =iR

So 110=9\times R

R=\frac{110}{9}=12.222ohm

(b) The power dissipated in the resistor is given by P=i^2R=9^2\times 12.222=990W

So the power dissipated = 990 W

Can someone help with these/
mafiozo [28]

One

If you use the right hand rule for these problems, you usually make your fingers and thumb sit at right angles to each other. What each of the two fingers means and that related to the thumb is a different story.  All you have to understand at this point is that all three are mutually perpendicular.

That makes C the answer.

All the other choices don't make that clear.

Two

This is a straight definition question. The definition says exactly what D says.
